Dexter Gordon's solo on "Watermelon Man" from Herbie Hancock's album Takin' Off  (1962)

This is a great example on how to use the blues scale in a non-corny way. Also, dig Dexters usage of thirds and sevenths. There isn't anything too technical in this solo. He just lays it down! (*Tenor Players- He plays the solo one octave higher than it is written in the guided transcription. He also uses an altissimo G. This is a tough note to get out. Play it down an octave if you don't have it....yet!)
