Miles Davis' solo on "So What" From Kind of Blue (1959)
This is the first solo that I ever transcribed. The development of the melodic line is amazing. This is a great example on how to play over a modal tune. It just proves that you don't need a lot of chord changes to develop a solo, just create great melodic ideas. Dig how Miles reintroduces his original thought throughout the entire solo.
